Former President and Kurunegala District MP Mahinda Rajapaksa has expressed doubt over the circumstances which led to the resignation of former Law and Order and Prison Reforms Minister Tilak Marapana.

Speaking on the matter yesterday, Rajapaksa raised the suspicion that Marapana was asked to resign for telling the truth.

Rajapaksa pointed out that Marapana had spoken of the Avant Garde controversy based on the information given by the Attorney General. Even the Justice Minister backed him, Rajapaksa recalled.

"If the AG and the Justice Minister said so, what is there to debate about?" Rajapaksa asked.
