A group of Sri Lankan Tamils in Australia protested against TNA Jaffna District Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran while he was visiting that country, alleging that he had betrayed the struggle for the release of political prisoners in Sri Lanka.

Protesters said that Sumanthiran gave false promises to the ex-LTTE suspect detainees in Sri Lanka and convinced them to end the hunger strike recently.

Afterwards, he has forgotten the fight for the release of the detainees and has engaged in foreign tours instead, the protesters alleged.
