W.K.H. Wegapitiya has been re-appointed to boards of directors of Sri Lanka Telecom and Mobitel, sources from the Presidential Secretariat said.

Wegapitiya tendered his letter of resignation from the Telecom board of directors, following a heated a board meeting.

However, President Maithripala Sirisena has decided to re-appoint Wegapitiya as a director of both state-run enterprises. Mobitel is a subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom.

Wegapitiya, a prominent businessman, is the Chairman of Laughs Holdings (pvt) Limited.
