Democratic Party leader Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka today lashed out at the government for covering up the Avant-Garde controversy, especially criticizing the Law and Order Minister Tilak Marapana and Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
Speaking at a press conference today, Fonseka said that if what Marapana and Rajapakshe had stated at Parliament yesterday were correct, an inquiry should be held against the Police. Marapana had said that the Police raided a floating armoury in January this year to ‘score points’.
However, a floating armory cannot remain at a harbor and must be 12 nautical miles off the coast, Fonseka said. Therefore, what Marapana said was wrong, he added.
