The 17-year-old student who was arrested and later released over the death of Kotadeniyawa girl today filed a Fundamental Rights petition against Inspector General of Police and five others.
The school boy was acquitted of the murder based on DNA evidence.
He alleged that he was assaulted by the police while in custody.
The boy also filed a complaint at the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission (HRC) on October 08 against the Police for arresting them wrongfully and mistreating them when he was in police custody.
Furthermore, the All Ceylon Teachers’ Union Secretary Joseph Stalin on September 30 filed a petition with the HRC against arresting a schoolboy over the murder without proper evidence.
