Discussions between the State Minister of Higher Education Mohan Lal Grero and the representatives of the Inter University Students' Federation ended inconclusively today.

The discussions were held following a protest march by the IUSF from Sri Jayawardenapura University to the University Grants Commission.

Grero said that he is unable to come to a decision on the SAITM on his own. The abolishing of the SAITM is a main demand of the IUSF.

The government also promised to raise the allowance for the students to Rs 4000. University intake will be increased by 10 percent and the HNDA course will be given degree equivalence once again, the State Minister also promised.
