Minister of Law and Order and Prisons Reforms Tilak Marapana is expected to make a special statement to Parliament on the recent police attack on HNDA students in Colombo.

Police clashed with students on October 29 at Ward Place in a successful attempt to disperse a protest by the HNDA students backed by the Inter University Students' Federation. However, some of the action taken by police generated severe criticism.

Police later claimed that no attack took place.

Two committees have been appointed to probe the alleged incident by the National Police Commission and the Prime Minister.
