The Cinnamon Gardens Police today filed a charge sheet at the Colombo Chief Magistrate's court against Western Provincial Councilor Upali Kodikara on using criminal force to deter a police officer from carrying out his duty.
Since Kodikara pleaded not guilty, the case was fixed for January 18.
On October 19, UPFA Western Provincial Council Member Upali Kodikara was arrested by Cinnamon Gardens Police for obstructing police duty. He was released on bail a few days later.
Kodikara had struggled with a policeman on duty at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges at BMICH on October 16 when he was stopped from entering the commission premises.
