Acting IGP Pujith Jayasundara and Colombo DIG Gamini Mathurata arrived at the National Police Commission for the inquiry on the recent police attack on HNDA students at Town Hall.

Police clashed with students on October 29 at Ward Place in a successful attempt to disperse a protest by the HNDA students backed by the Inter University Students' Federation. However, some of the action taken by police generated severe criticism.

Police claimed that the media published photographs of alleged attacks to give a wrong impression about the police and tarnish its image.
