The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna today condemned the police attack on a protest by the HNDA students on Thursday, saying that the government was going back to the Rajapaksa-era by brutally attacking protests.
Releasing a statement, the JVP said that the HNDA students launched their protest to demand answers for justifiable grievances. Governments have been silent on these demands, which has led to the protests, the JVP also pointed out.
The JVP said the new government should answer these grievances instead of returning to the Rajapaksa regime's policy of suppressing protests.
