Protests have been organized in several cities today against yesterday's police attack on a protest by HNDA students in Colombo.

The Inter University Student Federation said that protests have been organized in Dehiwela, Kandy, Galle and Kegalle.

Meanwhile, heavy traffic was reported from Wijerama Junction in Nugegoda earlier, due to a protest by students of the Sri Jayawardenapura University.

The police yesterday dispersed a protest by HNDA students at Ward Place, Colombo 7 and arrested 39 participants. The police claimed that it used 'minimum force' to disperse the protesters. However, students accuse the police of brutally assaulting them.
