Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered the release of 39 students arrested at the protest at Town Hall yesterday, on personal bail of Rs. 100,000 each.
The arrested students included two Bhikkus and five female students.
They were charged for unlawful assembly and causing injuries to police personnel.
Police said that six police personnel and eight students were currently undergoing treatment at Colombo National Hospital.
