Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said that the election for Sri Lanka Cricket elections will be held in the first week of January.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today, Jayasekara said that the initial steps have already been taken to hold the election.
He added that all pending elections in sports administration bodies will be carried out by April. Thereby, all interim committees will be replaced, he said.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket is likely to appoint a new permanent head coach only after the elections, reports said. Jerome Jayaratne will function as interim coach until a permanent coach is named.
