The Finance Ministry said that the 90 per cent loan margin for the leasing of vehicles will be effective from today.

The Central Bank would officially inform the banks and finance companies on this change, the Ministry also said.

On September 14, the Central Bank announced a loan margin of 70 percent for the leasing of vehicles, reducing it from the earlier 100 per cent. Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake later announced that a 90 percent loan margin would be introduced.
