Three spill Gates of the Upper Kotamale reservoir were opened yesterday due to heavy rainfall experienced recently. 

However, two of them were closed today while one sluice gate still remains open, our reporter said. 

Moreover, engineers of Upper Kotmale Power Plant warned the general public that other spill gates could be opened within next few days due to heavy rains in the Kotmala Oya basin. People living downstream are warned of the rising water levels in the river.
