A complaint was filed against former Minister and Kelaniya SLFP Chief Organizer Mervyn Silva, alleging that he sold a land belonging to the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha illegally.

Mervin Silva allegedly divided this land into plots and prepared forged deeds to these divided plots. Thereafter, he had allegedly sold them, earning a huge sum of money illegally.

It is learned that the plot of land located had been earmarked to be made a public park under a Town Plan.

The complaint also alleges that an individual named “Singapore Sarath” had been an accomplice in this alleged illegal transaction. “Singapore Sarath is known as a close associate of Silva.

Mervyn Silva had a long-running dispute with some SLFP politicians in Kelaniya area. A high point in this dispute was the Hasitha Madawala murder in January 2013. Some associates of Silva were accused in this murder. One person was given death sentence for the murder earlier this year.
