Despite significant developments pertaining to the cases of Wasim Thajudeen, Prageeth Eknaligoda, Nadaraja Raviraj and Prageeth Eknaligoda, the Police is yet to make any progress on several important investigations.
Among them are the murder case of Lasantha Wickrematunga, attacks on journalists Upali Tennakoon and Keith Noyahr.
Although the investigation into Lasantha Wickrematunga is still "open", Police have already abandoned investigations into attacks on Tennakoon and Noyahr due to "lack of evidence".
When contacted by Asian Mirror, a top Police source confirmed the investigation into Lasantha Wickrematunga's murder was "stagnant" due to some reason.
However, it widely known among political circles that fingers were pointed at former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka over the incidents involving Wickrematunga, Tennakoon and Keith Noyahr.
It is still a question as to why Police have failed to make any progress on the three cases, as they did with cases incolcing Eknaligoda, Raviraj, Thajudeen and Pararajasingham.
Fonseka was an ally of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential election on January 08 even though his party contested at the Parliamentary election separately nine months later.
