UPFA Western Provincial Council member Upali Kodikara was released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate today.
The attorneys representing Kodikara had submitted a bail plea citing an impending Malaysia visit of the defendant. Considering the bail plea, the chief magistarte orderd to release Kodikara on bail on a cash bail of Rs. 10,000 and two personal bails of Rs. 1 million each.
Kodikara was arrested by Cinnamon Gardens Police for obstructing police duty on October 19.
Kodikara had struggled with a policeman on duty at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges at BMICH on October 16 when he was stopped from entering the commission premises.
