The funeral of Subramaniam Sivakamy Alias ‘Col’ Thamilini was held at Shivapuram, Paranthan, public cemetery yesterday evening.
Several parliamentarians, provincial council ministers and provincial councilors arrived at Sivakamy's resident in Paranthan to pay their last respects to her.
Sivakamy, the ex-leader of the LTTE Women's Political Wing died of cancer at the Maharagama cancer hospital in the early hours on October 18, at the age of 43.
She joined the LTTE in 1991, and took part in some battles in her early years in the LTTE. Then she was transferred to the Political Division.
She surrendered to the security forces at the end of the war in 2009 with her family, disguised as a civilian. However, she was soon located and arrested. She was rehabilitated and released in 2013.
