Dunesh Priyashantha alias 'Kondaya', who was held on suspicion for the murder of a five-year-old girl at Kotadeniyawa, was released from remand prison today by the Minuwangoda Magistrate.
On October 7, the Magistrate revealed that Priyashantha's DNA samples did not match with the foreign bodies found at the crime scene.
However, police requested that Priyashantha be kept in remand custody since there were two other pending cases against him at Gampaha and Attanagalla Magistrate Courts.
Meanwhile, his elder brother, an individual named Saman Jayalath, confessed to the murder at the Minuwangoda Magistrate's Court two weeks ago. It was recently revealed that Jayalath's DNA matched with the crime scene.
Saman Jayalath remains in remand custody over the crime. He was remanded again until November 2 by the Minuwangoda Magistrate.
