Police have launched an investigation on some human skeletal remains which were found at an abandoned land in Ariyalai, Jaffna.

The Jaffna District Magistrate P. Sivakumar examined the site and ordered the police to investigate into the matter.

Some fragments of female clothing, a comb and some slippers were also discovered at the site. However, preliminary investigations could not determine if the skeletal remains were from the same individual.

The original police complaint was filed by former TNA MP Suresh Premachandran. He said that he was informed of the find by a local resident and that he visited the site before complaining to Police.
