Suspected ex-LTTE detainees suspended their hunger strike today, following assurance given by President Maithripala Sirisena to resolve their issues by November 7.

President Sirisena gave this assurance to Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan yesterday.
Accordingly, the government will look into the detainees who are held on no charges and minor offenses.
The inmates in several prisons who had launched the strike on Monday suspended their protest today after they were informed of the President's assurance.
