Forty two new tombs were recetly discovered from the Ibbankatuwa burial ground near Dambulla.

These tombs are more than 2600 years old and therefore belong to the pre-Vijayan era. This is a significant finding in the Ibbankatuwa burial grounds.

The Central Cultural Fund is conducting archaeological excavation work in the site.

Ibbankatuwa is located 5 kilometers from Dambulla towards Kurunegala.
