A sixty nine member delegation including fourteen officers and fifty five School Cadets from SAARC countries, namely, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Nepal, arrived in Sri Lanka as a part of Youth Exchange Programme of National Cadet Corps (NCC). They are in the country from 10th to 20th October 2015 to witness the “Hermann Loos Championship Camp 2015” scheduled to be held on 19th October 2015 at NCC training centre Rantambe.
A cross section of the delegation comprising ten officers and twenty Cadets including six Lady Cadets led by Colonel Jayachandran Nair, called on the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke 0n October 14 at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff.
The delegation proceeded to attend a briefing conducted by Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Director Operations of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff on Tri Forces employment and security situation of the country from an academic point of view. It was followed by an interaction with senior officers of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff with the visiting delegation in a warm atmosphere of camaraderie.
Head of the delegation together with one cadet from each country presented mementos to mark the visit which was reciprocated by the Chief of Defence Staff.
