JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said that instead of looking for a rope to hang criminals, the society must look for a stronger, larger rope to hang itself for creating such criminals.

Speaking at a recent event, Silva said that the society as a whole turns agitated at news of horrendous crimes. Then it starts looking for culprits and calling for the death penalty. However, hanging individual criminals will not solve the bigger problems which drive people to commit crimes, Silva added.

Pointing out that the society should take responsibility for the surge of criminal activities, since the society create such criminals.
