The DNA samples of Saman Jayalath, a suspect arrested over the murder of a five-year-old girl in Kotadeniyawa, matched with the DNA samples obtained from the crime scene, the Minuwangoda Magistrate revealed today.

The report was handed over to the Magistrate a short while ago.

Jayalath is the elder brother of Dunesh Priyashantha alias 'Kondaya' arrested earlier for the murder. However, his DNA samples failed to match with the foreign DNA found on the girl's body.

Saman Jayalath confessed to the murder at the Minuwangoda Magistrate's Court on Monday, October 5. He was brought to Genetech in Colombo for DNA testing on October 6. He remains in remand custody.
