Former State Minister of Plantation Industries K. Velayudhan has passed away today at the age of 65.

Velayudhan was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai at the time of his death.

He was appointed a UNP MP in August 2014 from Badulla District, following the resignation of the Badulla District UNP MP Harin Fernando.

Velayudhan was appointed State Minister of Plantation Industries following the Presidential Election in January 2015.
