Former Eastern PC Chief Minister Sivanesanthurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan was arrested by the CID in relation to the 2005 assassination of former TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham.

Chandrakanthan, who is also the leader of Tamil Makkal Viduthal Pulihal (TMVP), had arrived earlier this afternoon to give a statement to the CID in relation to the assassination.

The CID recently arrested two ex-LTTE members in relation to the assassination.

Pararajasingham, a former TNA MP, was shot dead at St. Mary's cathedral church in Batticaloa, while attending Christmas prayers early morning on December 25, 2005.
