The Sri Lankan Navy, which has been sending its personnel for training in Indian defence establishments, has discussed with faculty of the New Delhi-based Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) the issue of conferring B. Tech degree on its technical officers.
The proposal was discussed during the meeting of senior Lankan Navy officials with JNU faculty members in Colombo on Wednesday.
According to the official website of the Sri Lankan Navy, its officers and JNU faculty “held cordial discussions which were of mutual interest with special focus on conferring of B. Tech degree for engineering officers of the SLN.”
Professor Bupinder Zutshi from Centre for Study of Regional Development (CSRD) and also the Director of Admission and Controller of Examinations, Professor Prasenjit Sen of the School of Physical Sciences and Professor R.K. Kale of the School of Life Sciences had met the officials.
JNU, besides its regular students in its campus, also confers undergraduate degree on cadets, who complete their training at the National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khadakwasla near Pune and Naval Academy (NAVAC) at Ezhimala in Kerala.
