Former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and former Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Anusha Palpita were released on strict bail conditions by the Colombo High Court today.
They had been issued notice regarding the case of an alleged misappropriation of Rs 600 million belonging to the TRC for a 'sil redi' distribution program.
Both were released on a cash bail of Rs 100,000 and three sureties of Rs one million each. Furthermore, their passports were impounded and they were ordered to inform court if they change addresses.
High Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena also said that they could be remanded of they violated bail conditions.
The next hearing of the case was fixed for November 9.
