The United National Party Working Committee decided to back the retention of the Proportional Representations System for the forthcoming Local Government Elections when it met this evening.
UNP Media Spokesperson and Minister of Education Akila Virj Kariyawasam told media that the Working Committee came to this decision since it had been revealed that the delimitation of electoral boundaries was done in a biased manner. The current delimitation has been carried out in a favorable manner to the former government, he said.
The Working Committee of the UNP met this evening at the Sirikotha Party headquarters and discussed the current political status, the LG Elections and the recently published OISL report, political sources said.
