After a disappointing tour of India, Sri Lanka bounced back to defeat England by 25 runs in their first ODI yesterday at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. TM Dilshan led the way with a good all round performance with a well made 88 runs and a good bowling and fielding performance. He was declared Man of the Match.

Former General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Maithripala Sirisena opening a UNP campaign office at the UNP headquarters 'Sirikotha' 

President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Nepal yesterday and visited Lumbini, birth place of Prince Siddhartha. The president is in Nepal to participate in the 18th SAARC summit which takes place today and tomorrow in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital.

Anura Priyadarshana Yapa assumed duties as the new General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party today  at the SLFP headquarters. A lawyer by profession Yapa first entered Parliament in 1994, representing the Kurunegala District. He is also the Petroleum Industries Minister.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and common candidate Maithripala Sirisena are still seen smiling together at 'Rajya Osusala' in Colombo. Maithipala, who was the Minister of Health until last night, was the one who overlooked 'Rajya Osusala'.
