Bangladesh cricket team manager Khaled Mahmud has quit just ahead of the Test match against India starting Wednesday.
Sources in Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said Mahmud e-mailed his resignation on Sunday to BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury, citing “family reasons”, leading Bangladeshi daily Prothom Aalo reported.
When queried about this, BCB cricket operations committee chief Naimur Rahman denied any comment. However, he said the issue would be discussed with Mahmud.
Khaled Mahmud is also a former Bangladeshi cricketer. As a medium pace bowler and middle-order batsman, he played international cricket from 1998 to 2006, captaining the team from 2003 to 2004.
