Sri Lanka cricket decided to send Kithruwan Withanage and P.H.T Kaushal to Australia as standby players for Dinesh Chandimal and Rangana Herath.
The national selectors, after the discussions with the team’s management, recommended that Kithruwan Withanage be flown in as a cover up batsman for injured Dinesh Chandimal, who was injured in the game against Australia yesterday.
“Chandimal has a torn hamstring injury and we are monitoring him closely for the next 48-hours. We might have to replace him with another player,” Sri Lanka team manager Michael de Zoysa told media earlier.
Meanwhile P.H.T. Kaushal has been recommended to be sent in as the replacement player for Rangana Herath, if his injury is not completely healed.
Rangana Herath was injured in the game against England.
