Sri Lanka put on 279 for 8 wickets against Zimbabwe in their World Cup warm-up game in Lincoln, New Zealand as Dimuth Karunaratne and Jeevan Mendis posted half centuries.
Sri Lanka opened with Lahiru Thirimanne and Kumar Sangakkara, and Sangakkara did not last long. Several batsmen got into good starts but did not go on to score big totals. Karunaratne top scored with 58. Jeevan Mendis scored 51 at run a ball. Sachithra Senanayake played a 17 ball 25 in the latter stages of the innings.
The pick of the bowlers for Zimbabwe was the left arm spinner Sean Williams, whose inclusion in the tour had been in doubt. Williams took 3 for 35 in his 10 0vers.
