The first leg of the 72nd Bradby Shield rugby encounter between Royal College, Colombo, and Trinity College, Kandy, will be worked out today at the Royal College Sports Complex, Colombo 7.
Royal won the last encounter and will hope to capitalize on the fact that Trinity is missing its Captain.
Trinity College 1st XV skipper Rahul Karunathilake will be missing the 1st leg of the 72nd Bradby Shield encounter as a result a one match ban he received for two consecutive yellow cards received during the game against S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia recently.
Meanwhile, for the first time in Sri Lanka, Television Match Official (TMO) will be introduced at the Bradby first leg. Wimal Perera, former referee and IRB qualified CMO will be the in the box as the first TMO in the country.
Dinka Peiris has been appointed the main referee while Aruna Shantha and Rohan Fernando will assist him.
Trinity has won 39 Bradby encounters while Royal has won 31. The 1992 encounter was a tie. Royal won the last edition in 2015.
