A little over five months after bringing his cricket career to an end, Sachin Tendulkar - who is 41 today (April 24) -- continues to command respect and set pulses racing each time he steps out. The difference? He has gone from being a legendary batsman on the cricket pitch to an astounding 'all-rounder' in the game called life.
Always known for his modesty despite sky-touching fame and recognition, Tendulkar has spent his post-retirement days enjoying life to the brim. And yet, fulfilling his social responsibilities and staying in touch with his first love - cricket, has been high in his list of priorities.
Sports though is what brings out the real passion in Tendulkar to the fore. The veteran, who holds almost every single batting record in international cricket, has continued his close association with the sport. From advising children on the right cricketing technique to monitoring international stars in the Mumbai Indians' franchise, it is clear that there is no affair stronger than this man's affair with bat and ball.
Tendulkar however, has extended his love for cricket to other sports as well. He is now the joint-owner of the Kochi franchise in the Indian Super League football tournament - scheduled to start later this year. "I will always remain a sportsman at heart who is keen to positively impact the sporting fabric of the nation," he had said after the bidding earlier this month (April 13).
Now 'firmly in his 40s', Tendulkar continues to play an innings of great admiration in every field. Here's wishing him a fantastic birthday and a life which sees one last century in the years to come!
