Govt To Seek AG's Advice On J.C Weliamuna Report

Deputy Aviation Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena told local media that the government will seek advice from the Attorney General on how to proceed with the probe on SriLankan Airlines.

The probe is to be launched following the report submitted by a committee headed by senior attorney J.C. Weliamuna on the malpractices in the airline, Abeywardena stated.

He further asserted that the report would be referred to the Attorney General (AG) for his opinion on the matter following which necessary action would be taken.

C.J weliamuna report on SriLankan Airlines had made a number of recommendations to file criminal cases against officials like the former Chairman Nishantha Wickremesinghe and CEO Kapila Chandrasena. It had also criticized the actions of several other officials and recommended action against them.
