From the election results that have been released so far, President Mahinda Rajapaksa is ahead of Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena with a very thing margin in several districts.

Postal votes results have been released in Badulla, Matale, Monaragala, Matara, Hambanthota, Polonnaruwa, Galle, Kegalle and Rathnapura districts.

From the aforesaid districts President Mahinda Rajapaksa has obtained 100709 votes while Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena has secured 91515 votes.

President Rajpaksa is presently ahead of 9194 votes with a percentage of 52.2%. The percentage of the Common Candidate now stands at 47.4%
