Asian Mirror provincial reporter in Kandy confirmed a short while ago that the postal votes in Kandy are now being recounted.

Multiple sources confirmed that the results of the first count (postal votes) were in favor of Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.

Unofficial results that have reached us suggest a very close contest between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.

The Elections Department is yet to release the first official postal vote result.
