Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya, speaking to media following the conclusion of presidential polls, said this evening that no one could predict the final voter turnout until the end of counting.

Deshapriya also thanked the general public for paving the way for a peaceful election.
The Elections Commissioner said that even though several incidents of election violence were reported, none of them were serious.
"Do not assault or take out revenge on others merely because they bear different ideas. Act responsibly in accordance with election laws", Deshapriya said.
The Elections Commissioner also said that after voting concluded at 4.00pm today, the ballot boxes were safely delivered to counting centers.
"We pledge to deliver the accurate result at the fast as possible, but I cannot guarantee the exact time the result will be publicized", he said.
Meanwhile, speaking on the incident that occurred at the Rupavahini television station earlier today, Deshapriya asserted that necessary steps were taken by the station to correct their mistake. He added that it is appreciable to note that the station taking time to make a public apology about the error.
