An SMS is now being circulated using a “fake” mobile number of UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa urging the UNP supporters to vote for President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The United National Party confirmed that the UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa had nothing to do with the SMS and this mobile number had been used without his knowledge.
UNP sources told Asian Mirror that Premadasa would lodge a formal complaint with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) in this regard. The party said it did not receive a satisfactory response over this SMS from the mobile service provider. A party spokesperson also added that the number which had been used for the SMS campaign was "non-existent".
“A future of those who refer to the murderer of my father and LTTE Leader Mr. Prabhakaran is not the kind of future we want for our country. Vote for Mahinda Rajapaksa tomorrow. Pass this message to all UNP friend and family,” the false SMS said.
