UPFA Parliamentarian Achala Suranga Jagoda has pledged support the Common Opposition a short while ago.
The Parliamentarian will support the candidature of Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena at the next presidential election. Announcing his decision, the UPFA Parliamentarian held press conference in Colombo, along with Common Candidate of the opposition Maithripala Sirisena
Jagoda is the 27th Parliamentarian to defect from the ruling party since the announcement of the presidential election. Also, he is the third UPFA National List Parliamentarian to join the common opposition.
A former Parliamentarian of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Jagoda defected from the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, along with Wimal Weerawansa. Jagoda was one of the founding members of the National Freedom Front, led by Wimal Weerawansa. He then joined the United People’s Freedom Alliance.
He was also appointed as the Deputy Minister of Tourism by the UPFA government.
