Amidst heavy pressure mounted by South Indian politicians and local groups, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan left Sri Lanka last night without much media fanfare.
Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez visited Sri Lanka in the wee hours of Monday and participated in the election rally held by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Borella. Subsequently, the Bollywood superstar also attended a health camp in Sri Lanka, along with the Sri Lankan President and his son Namal Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile, hitting out at Bollywood actor Salman Khan for allegedly campaigning for Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, MDMK chief Vaiko today dubbed him as a ‘betrayer.’ Rajapaksa is under fire from political parties in Tamil Nadu, especially MDMK, due to war crimes allegations during the final phase of war in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, UPFA Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa had said that Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s visit had nothing to do with President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Presidential Election campaign.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Namal Rajapaksa had said that the Bollywood actor did not receive any payment from the government.
“This is not the first time Salman has come to this country, and each time he came, he has provided charity for the needy in this country. He came in 2011 as well and then we conducted a health project in Jaffna for the underprivileged,” Rajapaksa said.
