Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will not be joining a national government. Those who left the party can apologize and rejoin after the opposition’s defeat on January 8, he added.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, the Deputy Chairman of the SLFP said that a national government replacing the bipartisan politics is actually a path to dictatorship. Therefore SLFP is not interested in this, he said, adding that the SLFP believes bipartisan politics is crucial for the future of the country.
However, anyone can join the government after January 8, he added.
"Anyone can come back, but after apologizing and accepting our terms. The salon door will always be open under those conditions," he added.
