Famous Bollywood actor Salman Khan arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday to support the election campaign of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
As exclusively revealed by Asian Mirror two weeks ago, Salman Khan was invited to participate in the election campaign of the President by Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
Along with him, Sri Lanka born Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez too arrived in Sri Lanka.
The Bollywood actress too is expected to support the election campaign of President Rajapaksa.
This was the first time in the country electoral history that a Bollywood actor was approached to support the campaign of a presidential candidate .
Although the opposition dubs this as a “ridiculous” move, the government is of the firm belief that it would be a “masterstroke” to draw the support of the Colombo crowd who are predominantly non-SLFP.
Although Bollywood actors and actresses are no aliens to politics, Salman Khan has never been part of any major election campaign in India. However, at the recently held general election in India, Salman Khan supported a Congress Party candidate named Priya Dutt.
