Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena said he would address the concerns of Famers– including the chronic kidney disease that has already claimed lives of tens of thousands of farmers – under his “new government.”
Speaking at an election rally today, the Common Candidate said wrong state policies have led to the problems in the agricultural sector. “The farmer is finding difficulties on all fronts and the government is turning a blind eye to their problems,” Sirisena added.
He also pledged to resolve problems in the agricultural sector through what he termed as correct state policies that are made not in favour of “multi-national companies”, but for the farming community of the country.
He also said the government’s move to allow harmful pesticides to enter into the Sri Lankan market also contributed to the rapid increase of the chronic kidney disease, not only in the North Central province, but also in other areas across the country.
Meanwhile , the Common Candidate is also scheduled to address a meeting in Dambula tomorrow. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 6 pm at the ‘Gamudawa’ ground in Dambulla, a key area where the agricultural sector of the country is concerned.
