President Mahinda Rajapaksa, addressing the launch of his election manifesto "Mahinda Chinthana - Lowa dinana maga" said, there have always been locals who aid international forces in their attempts to divide the country.

Speaking to a large number of ruling party members, senior provincial councilors, party leaders, senior state officials and artistes who gathered at BMICH this morning, the President asserted that he would not leave any room for conspirators who wanted to disrupt the unity of Sri Lanka.

The President, while launching his election manifesto, pledged to introduce a new constitution to the country in his third term. "I will, with the support of everyone, go toward a new constitution," President Rajapaksa assured.

"I do not have many agreements with many parties; there is only one and that is the Mahinda Chinthana," President Rajapaksa said.

Meanwhile, commenting on the opposition’s claims on ‘family-centered’ politics, the President said the only family-centered politics he follows is considering the entire country as his family. 

"We unveiled the Mahinda Chinthanaya at a time when the country was on the verge of being divided. In 2005, I promised peace for all citizens, and I delivered that within four years," President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.

"In 2005, I promised peace for all citizens, and I delivered that within four years. In 2010, I promised development to the country and we delivered that too," he added while stating that the government managed to create highways and clean cities.

He also added that Mahinda Chintana was not just a political promissory note that was forgotten with the elections.
