Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated that all members of the opposition alliance against the government are engaged in politics of hatred.
Speaking at a press meeting yesterday, he said that the former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is driven by hatred. Meanwhile, Patali Champika Ranawaka was trying to even scores for taking over the power and energy ministry from him, Aluthgamage added.
Common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena was driven by “agamathi vairaya” or the anger due to not being named as the Prime Minister in the Mahinda Rajapaksa government, Aluthgamage further stated. Meanwhile, Sarath Fonseka was trying to get back at president Rajapaksa for his election defeat in 2010, Aluthgamage said.
The TNA and the JVP are also driven by hatred he said, adding that the TNA is angry at the government for not letting the country to fall into pieces while the JVP was angry for its decline which saw the number of its parliamentary seats fall from 42 to 3.
Therefore all major components who are in the Maithripala camp are driven by hatred, he stated.
