Deputy Minister P. Digambaram who represents the district of Nuwaraeliya has sent his letter of resignation to President Mahinda Rajapaksa early this morning, Asian Mirror reliably learns.
it was widely speculated that Digambaram would extend his support to Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena at the forthcoming presidential election.
P Digambaram, who represents National Workers Union, a plantation sector trade union, was sworn in as Deputy Minister in National Languages and Social Integration in August this year.
The Deputy Minister has sent his letter of resignation to the President via fax, sources close to him told Asian Mirror. He has resigned from his position on the same day his Minister, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, officially expressed his support to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the presidential election.
